Galentine’s Day Charcuterie Board

Valentine’s Day celebrated on February 14th is a day of love and romance for sweethearts all over the world.  In our modern world, you don’t have play by any set of rules and who better to spend time with than your best gal pals? “Galentine’s Day” is a day to celebrate the adoration of female friends.  If you’re planning a Galentine’s Day celebration, you can make it fun by lounging in comfy clothes, slapping on a face mask and of course eating delightful treats. I’d like to teach you how to make your Galentine’s Day extra delicious this year with a beautiful charcuterie board. I’ve put together a video you can watch at the end of this article, but first keep reading for some insight on charcuterie boards.

Charcuterie Boards: Why are they Popular?

I love making charcuterie boards for all occasions because they are elegant and appealing to the eye. My family loves to entertain so I’m constantly looking for ways to put together desserts or foods that are both delicious and quick to make. Charcuterie boards have become increasingly popular and I believe it is because they can be made at home and customized to any occasion. People have found they can use items they already have in their pantry and refrigerator. You can get as creative as you like by mixing bright colors and utilizing various household items as props. Once complete, a charcuterie board can look like you’ve spent hours making it but it’s not as complicated as it appears.  Once you start assembling, everything will fall right into place.

Where to Begin

Start off by having an idea of what you want to put on the board. You’ll want to select the right board; it can be wood, marble or even a serving tray. Next, include a couple of props like ramekin dishes or in this case, cookie cutters. Finally, include items that are different shapes and sizes. Don’t be afraid to move things around if they don’t appear quite right. Use savory and sweet items to have the best of both worlds. Arrange everything on the counter beside you so you have a clear visual. Below is an idea of the items I used for my Galentine’s Day charcuterie board:

Choosing the Right Ingredients

  • Different types of cheese such as a round brie and sliced cheese make a great starting point on a board
  • Chocolate covered strawberries look beautiful and taste wonderful. If you’re making your own like I did, start with the chocolate first so it has enough time to set
  • For and easy prop, I used Valentine themed cookie cutters and put some festive candy inside them
  • Crackers are must because they pair so well cheese
  • Fruit such as watermelon and blood oranges give a beautiful color variation to the board or use fruit that is in season

I was able to put this lovely Galentine’s Day board together in less than 15 minutes! You don’t have to be a professional to make a charcuterie board so don’t be intimated by the idea of it. I hope you enjoy this video and find it helpful.
