Spring into Home Decor

Spring is a great time to declutter and freshen up your home. You don’t need a complete decorating overhaul, either. Simply changing up a few accessories and introducing bright, fun pops of pastels this spring are the way to go.

Colors

It can be challenging to find the right combination of colors but the trick is to find complimentary colors or keep them in the same color tones. Spring’s pastel color palettes are generally soft and fresh. This year’s pantone colors are; lilac, tea rose pink, peach orange, celadon green, and lemon yellow. Pick the colors that attract you the most – colors that make you feel happy.

There are many ways to use spring colors in your home. For instance, adding a few new accessories with your favorite spring colors can subtly change the look, feel and mood of a room. Other ways of using colors include; painting an accent wall to brighten up a space and displaying artwork with the same spring color palette. Keep it simple and don’t get carried away. A touch of color goes a long way.

Declutter

Spring is the perfect time to declutter your home. Take out the old and bring in the new. Why keep things you don’t use on a daily basis? I know it’s not easy getting rid of your belongings. Sometimes we hold on to things we don’t really need or use anymore and even buy things we think we might use some other time in life but it all takes up space and clutters up our homes. So, first and foremost, do a little spring cleaning by purging what you don’t use right now.

Organize

I personally love organizing and the end result streamlines my life. Using a label maker can be a good way of keeping things organized and in their place. Label bins and containers for storing winter clothes so they’re easy to find when that season rolls around again. Closet shelves can use labels to help you know, what goes back where. If you plan to garden this spring, a label machine can help you keep your seeds organized and identifiable. You can label files, important folders in your office and in the kitchen, label spices and baking items that you transferred into unmarked jars or containers. Never confuse salt for sugar in your baking again! Organizing can be very therapeutic and can bring a new clean look and feel to a room. When things are in their place and there are fewer things to take care of, it can change the way we live sometimes, drastically. This DYMO-Label maker is a good choice for easy use and quick labels.

Kids rooms are always a challenge to organize with toys, books and clothes. Updating their rooms for spring and organizing can be a fun project with this pro tip: organize their room in 3 main sections: play, sleep, and read. Sort items into these sections for a simple way to start the project. Using baskets and shelving help keep these sections functional. Crate and Kids by Crate and Barrel has cute and creative shelving and baskets to choose from. Also, make the updating and organizing fun for kids by involving them in this project. Try having them create artwork with spring themes to hang up on the walls. Lastly, don’t forget to mix patterns with colors and have fun!

Plants

Fresh flower and plants are another good way to bring Spring into your home. Plants add freshness and life to any room in the house. You can use daisies, daffodils, sunflowers, tulips (my favorites) and carnations or pansies which bring the outside, in. Adding some green is always nice with tall plants like the Indoor Palm or Yucca plant. Lush plants like the ficus and Fern, and easy to care for succulents like, aloe. Read about aloe vera benefits on Voicebowl’s article here. Fresh plants and flowers also add texture, fragrance and color to any space. When accessorizing a space always remember to add a bit of life into your home with these living accessories.

Spring is a time for renewal, use these tips to refresh your home and welcome the lovely season. What are your favorite spring decor items? Let me know in the comments below.
